Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
In short: Eyes Are Ears works entirely on your iPhone or iPad. Audio is never recorded or saved. Your transcripts stay on your device. We don't collect, receive, sell, or share any of your data, and the app has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.
Audio
When you tap Start, the app uses your device's microphone to turn speech into text and to tell speakers apart. This happens on your device as the audio is heard. Audio is processed in memory only and is never saved to storage or sent anywhere. The microphone is used only while a conversation is running; it stops when you tap Pause or End.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following in its private storage on your device:
- Transcripts of conversations you capture, with speaker labels and timestamps.
- Names you give speakers, and recently used names offered as quick choices.
- Conversation summaries and action items, if you use summaries.
- Your app settings, such as caption size.
Your transcripts stay on your device unless you choose to copy or share them. You can delete individual conversations in History and remove saved names in Settings. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, app data is included in those backups, as with other apps, under your own Apple Account and device settings.
Speech recognition and summaries
Speech is transcribed with Apple's on-device speech recognition. Summaries are created with Apple Intelligence on your device. Neither sends your conversations to us. Apple's handling of on-device features is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Network use
The app connects to the internet only to download the models it needs, the first time they're needed:
- Speech recognition language files, provided by Apple.
- The speaker-detection model, downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co).
These downloads don't include any of your audio, transcripts, or other personal information. As with any download, the server receives standard technical information such as your IP address, which is handled under that provider's privacy policy.
Sharing
A transcript leaves your device only if you choose to copy or share it, for example with Share Transcript. Where it goes then is up to you and the app or person you share it with.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics or crash reporting services.
- No collection, sale, or sharing of personal data.
Children
Eyes Are Ears is not directed to children under 13, and because the app collects no personal information, we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
